Here's a couple of pictures of harvesting grain on the central coast of California, at the Jack Creek Farms, near Paso Robles. The Caterpillar 30 easily powers the 22 inch McCormick Deering threshing machine. We threshed about nine hundred pounds of grain per hour. Another Cat 30 pulled a #38 Holt harvester, as it did over 60 years ago, on this same ranch.

Great pictures, It's great to see the old pull type combines. One of our neighbors would pull out his Harris every few years until his passing.

The Farmer, there is a lot of CA that looks like that along the coast range, foothills of the Serras, and the central valley was at one time mostly rolling land that supported large continous tracts (15,000 - 30,000 ac) of land that was dryland farmed with the early pull type combines that was later broken up into smaller parcles, leveled and irrigated.
