I was pushing some brush and suddenly a loud hammering noise started. I shut her down and did a visiual inspection all appeared fine. Upon hood removal I found broken pony gas tank mount and thought this could have been vibrating against the hood. So I restarted and found the noise to be comming from the clutch area. It appears that one of the clutch pads has broken and is hitting the bell housing. I have looked in the service manual for the procedure to remove and have some questions? Can parts be found for a replacement? If it's the pads can they be replaced? Any other parts I should be looking at trying to replace at this time? Manual shows removing pony flywheel is this just for more room? Thanks for any help. This is a great resource. Getting upset when the local salvage yard sell all their old parts for scrap? If so I'm getting it. My wife noticed it before I would admit to it.

Search for "drive links", "Thermites", or clutch links and you will get a lot of discussion of these. they're not cheap, but I believe they are available. Some have made them from belting material.
