D6 9U 3405 Dry Clutch Issues

I was pushing some brush and suddenly a loud hammering noise started. I shut her down and did a visiual inspection all appeared fine. Upon hood removal I found broken pony gas tank mount and thought this could have been vibrating against the hood. So I restarted and found the noise to be comming from the clutch area. It appears that one of the clutch pads has broken and is hitting the bell housing. I have looked in the service manual for the procedure to remove and have some questions? Can parts be found for a replacement? If it's the pads can they be replaced? Any other parts I should be looking at trying to replace at this time? Manual shows removing pony flywheel is this just for more room? Thanks for any help. This is a great resource. I have heard mentioned of (Yellow Fever ) are some of the symptons looking in and around farms and fields for yellow equipment? Getting upset when the local salvage yard sell all their old parts for scrap? If so I'm getting it. My wife noticed it before I would admit to it.

Search for "drive links", "Thermites", or clutch links and you will get a lot of discussion of these. they're not cheap, but I believe they are available. Some have made them from belting material.

D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time:D
