I have a 977h that I am putting a new engine into. It’s sat for a few years and I’m finally getting to it. My problem is the rubber is missing in the front engine mount (support assembly). The part number I have for the engine mount is 7m235. Is that the right part number? I cannot find a replacement anywhere so I just wanted to make sure I’m looking for the right part number. The machine serial number is 53a7846

Thanks, I’m not sure why I couldn’t get that to pull up anything when I googled it. I was thinking I may have had the wrong part number.

Is it possible to just replace the rubber part or does the whole thing need replaced? I don’t see a part number for the rubber piece

The whole thing needs replacing. You could get the old one redone with new rubber but that might not be any cheaper. The rubber is bonded to both parts hence why there is only one part number for the engine mount, rubber and chassis mount.

Too bad they didn’t make it with a replaceable bushing. I suppose that why engineers go to school for so long.

I ordered part 7m0235 and I received the same piece I already have, the piece that rests on the frame on each side but there was no rubber on it. Should there have been? That’s the whole reason I ordered it. Do I need a different part?

The inner presses onto the spigot on the timing cover. The last one I did I had to cut the old inner ring off the timing cover (very carefully using a grinder) and press the new one on. You need to make sure it is aligned properly and support the underside of the timing cover when pressing it on. Not one of Cats best ideas.
