Robert Wilson was created by shovel man
It is with great sadness that I have to announce the passing of Robert Wilson of Ossington, Near Newark in the U.K., Robert was  one of the most knowledgeable people in the UK on Caterpillar tractors and
machinery, and had probably the largest collection of such machines,  from early Holt tractors
through to D9's of the 1950's, his enthusiasm and dedication made him stand out, he was allways
willing to help others where he could, I  know he got to meet a lot of collectors in the USA in the last 20
years during his travels there, and made a lot of friends on that side of the pond, he was a true
gentleman and will be missed by all who knew him, my condolences to his partner Jan, his sisters
and family, RIP Robert.

Sorry to hear of his passing. I understood that he used to travel to the states in search of tractors and parts for his collection every two years. He probably knew where more stuff was hidden away here on the west coast than I ever would have imagined. I wished I had had the opportunity to meet this fine gentleman, as he made very good and lasting impressions on many of the folks he saw. Truly a great guy. RIP Mr. Wilson. JM

The final sale of Robert Wilson‘s vast collection takes place Friday May 19th and Saturday May 20th. Over 260 machines for sale at this last sale, there were over 300 total. Here’s a link to the catalog;

And a highlights list;

Crazy to see 26 D4s, let alone all the exotica..

Excellent. I need to do some calculating and perhaps a GoFundMe page now. Hah! It would be neat to have one of these scrapers here in the states with some of its Yankee cousins. I
I need to look thru the catalog and see what else might fit on a flat rack or container. Thanks so much! JM

Ha, sorry JM, that pic was just to tease you. Its not at Mr Wilson's sale. Not even on the same continent. They have become hard to find even here where they were manufactured.
