finally after a couple of year i decided to get the d6 9u known as the BISMARK ready for this years winter fun. i decided to test out the vee-plow that you gave me from kansas. you can see the 10" gap at the front. i then placed the vee-plow on the linn tractor trailer to use the trailer to get the blade welded straight.

today between the rains, i decided to pop the hard nose on the BISMARK. that way i can use the hardnose to make sure the vee-plow fits. it is better to do it now before the snow comes. my little shop is only big enough for one cat.

Replied by OCB on topic Push Arm Lenght
I have slept since I first read this post and seem to remember that you may have to move the push arms out ( thus giving move nose and track clearance) at the front bolted connection to the plow. The problem could be that the tracks of the BISMARK could climb the plow frame. Of course you are wanting a wider plow so your option could be lenghten the arms.
What is your snow conditions, do you have a lot hard pack or from it appears to be corn snow to powder. Putting a straight nose extention ( 18 - 24 inches) in the center of the plow projecting forward helped widen when snow wanted to fall forward when widing on the return pass.
Move forward and start the snow pictures coming. Clay

ocb, i lucked out and the arms were bolted to the vee-plow. so once i had the vee-plow together with some decent welds. i took some measurments and then cut the bolts and moved the arms out. the trailer worked good for keeping everything in line. more welding in the moning.

KoO,

Is that a standard Caterpillar manufactured snow blade?

Thanks for posting the pictures.

david, the vee-plow is a balderson made in kansas. it has cat bolts holding it together, LOL i think balderson was a big name 50 years ago.

another good day in the KINGDOM, got up and was welding with my long underwear on since it was 0C. i cheated and flipped the vee-plow over and over for best flat welds but i had to do some uphand.

put the vee-plow on the BISMARK and it looks good plus i have room to work in the front of the machine. so 24 hours welding, one grinder blade and several air arc rods got the job done.

after spending 3 longs days, i have the track pads changed on the one side of the BISMARK. next time i'll be buying a 3/4 drive impact wrench or even better a 1" one will work even better, LOL.
i also got the air arc out and cleaned up the birdsh*t welds on the winch plus chased the cracks in the fenders. with the fenders mount i moved the BISMARK out of the way to work on the d6 9u known as ROLLER-LESS.

i have to wait for the bell-housing to be drilled out for the electric starter then i can pop the motor back in, LOL
