This D4 ran fairly well but needed a governor. Had to pull the head because of leakage. Found one marginal valve.
Cosmetically it was a disaster. Had bolt on fender extension that were bolted on. The fenders underneath were cracked and bent. Difficult to find any decent orchard fenders anywhere, so I had to deal with them. There must have been 20 holes drilled in them.
Not a straight piece of tin on the entire tractor really. Hood was bent and warped. Gauge panel bent, broken and torched.  Steering, clutch and fuel linkages levers all bent, wallowed out. No lower engine panels. Many broken bolts throughout. Drawbar and slidebar were shot. Even the fuel tank was dented. That kind of sums up how bad it was. It was a huge amount of work but I enjoyed doing it and the customer was very happy when I delivered it.  Here are a pics of some of the process.
Let’s see if pics work this time ??

Hi Tractordon,
That must be an Aussie tractor, all the ones I find are like that but it shows how hardy these machines are, and what punishment they have taken through the years. (If only they could talk)

Have fun putting it back together

rax200 It is a California tractor that I guess seen it’s fair share of not do good of operators and many hours in the field. Beat up isn’t exclusive to Australia😁😁
Thanks

Another very nice restoration Don. One of these days I will have to be put on your appointment list and have one done. Tough decision here as to what to send you besides $$!
Keep up the good work. Decals look nice btw. JM

Man that’s a pretty tractor. Color is spot on I’d say. Thanks for the pictures.

Looking good! What primer, paint and hardener are you using ? Really looks like it flows and covers well.

Thanks Gee, it was a challenging project but I’m happy with how it turned out. I need to find the pics of it with the lights on it. I am up for whatever and whenever you would like to do something ✅
