My brother and I just bought a 7T that hasn't ran in 2 yrs. Replaced the fuel filters and cleaned out the housing. Now having a hard time priming the injection system. Also the starter on the pony motor would bind up here and there so looking for a replacement or rebuild kit for that. The edge of the gear on the starter is worn and the gear also isn't returning or disengaging like i would expect it to do. Any help or info would be greatly appreciated as we don't know a whole lot about this thing and everything has been learning on the fly hahaha. But the pony motor will fire up and run so thats a plus

A 7T sweet ... have any pictures?
First I'd start by getting yourself a few manuals i.e. Parts Book ... Operation & Maintenance manual ... Service Manual... ask around here or ebay. I do believe ACMOC has some information on the 7T in the Tech liberty.

until you get the pony starter sorted out you can start it with a rope. get the pony running and spinning the big engine open the bleed on top of the tower until fuel comes out of the drain tube. then with the throttle open you can bleed the fuel pumps from the bleed valve on each pump on the backside of each pump. also can crack the injection line at the injector. do all of this with the compression released though.

D46U straight blade,D46U cat angle blade,allis chalmers AD4 grader and Khoering 404 dragline. D4C 40A,D4 2T and scraper.

Old Magnet should be around soon ... I don't know how he dose it or what book he has but he is good at letting people know the year of Caterpillars they have by the S/N .
I can only guess; an early 7T with the S/N of 345 was most likely a first year production model which started in 1945. However, Old Magnet will be able to confirm or update the year and can lock down whether it be an early or late model year production.
good luck

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
