Will later 4.5 bore engine liners fit into an earlier D6. D486? If they are not a direct fit  is there a a possibility for remachining?

Thanks, Herb

Part number for the 4.25" liner is 7B4348 and they are still available from Cat. Are you wanting to put 4.5 inch cylinders in a 4.25 inch engine?

Hi Phil, No not really. Just was having a hard time finding anything aftermarket. That actually gave me size.
Thanks for the part #, that will help. Herb

I was able to source six after market 4.25" liners from Florin. However, I had to have a machine shop skim-cut the bottom o.d. because they fit too tight in the bore. So you might be better off paying Cat's price and be done with it. Buy once, cry once.

If I find the parts for any project, I usually buy them, even if I don't need them right now. I have a lathe , I can turn the OD if I have to.

THanks

Then I'd give Florin a try. It was a substantial savings, especially since you have to buy six.

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
