Working on rebuilding the undercarraige of my 9U (9U22383). I have the track frames off replacing the rollers and took the outer bearing asemblly off to replace the Outer bearing. The Support Assembly , which bolts to the track frame and holds the outside rear of the track frame, has a bushing (3F1965) pressed in it. On the inside of the Support Asembly is a Retainer (3F1954) which is held in place to the Support Assembly with 8 Machine Screws. Does the retainer have a seal in or attached to it which keeps dirt and moisture out of the outer track roller frame? Cat has new retainers available but there is no mention of any form of seal on the inside of the Support Assembly. The Servicemans Reference manual gives instructions to press the bronze bushing out of the bearing assembly if the is worn to the extent an .025" thicknes gauge can be inserted between the bushing and the bearing cage holder assembly. Press in a new bushing , lining up the oil holes. Press in a new seal with the wiping edge toward the sprocket. Is the retainer the actual seal or is there a wiping edge attached to the retainer. Tkhe old retainers are just a piece of flat metal with holes in it to attach it to the support assembly. Thanks Brian Boaz
