A friend offered me an old Caterpillar bulk fuel tank. It has the bolt on manhole on top, and looks decent for its age; no dents, just faded old yellow paint. I want to say its 500-750 gallon capacity from memory.
Question: Is it true they are copper lined? I am unfamiliar with the internals of these old tanks. I was thinking they are just carbon steel.
Don't know what I will do with it, if he brings it to me. No photos. Thank you, JM

Photos Juice or it didn't happen : ) What a cool item to have. Does it have any decals on it? Round and on skids?
Cheers,

I’ve seen one at a farm in Eastern Oregon. They still used it so it wasn’t for sale. It was a good looking tank.

There was one in the area in the 80's. The farmer ran a IH TD6 don't know if he had fuel in it or not. I am thinking about 300 gal size maybe more. That was more fuel than he would burn in a year I would guess. It was on a 4 wheel farm wagon. He may have used it to haul water to start new trees in his walnut orchard.
One of those frugal farmers that came out of the dust bowl in Oklahoma . Had a pile of money for adopted son and a grandson, that only knew how to spend and never save a penny. So if it leaked he would of had a use for it anyway, the kids not so much. So this one is lost again in the dust of time.

We have had this CAT tank since the 1940s and it has served us well. It is 550 gallons and has a built in dipstick to check levels. And good advice on the cap..
