Hi everybody,
we've just acquired a "big" twenty PL series i think (i couldn't find the serial number yet : the identification plate on the engine has been removed). The engine is seized, so i need to remove the head and i'll need the head gaskets. I've found in France a guy who sells head gasket that seem to come from en engine cat (and it really looks like), (the last picture), and he says that this gasket is made by Victor with the following reference "3114 -10 a 5918 USA" with a bore of 93 mm (probably 3" 3/4), and dimensions =  250mm x 197mm.
On the Internet i couldn't find any cross reference with this Victor number.
I know that the twenty engine is a 4" bore so, at first sight, this gasket won't fit this my Twenty engine. But what strikes me is that no cat engine has a bore of 3" 3/4  (unless the Fifteen L-Head engine)... maybe this head gasket don't fit any cat engine...
Sorry for the pictures, i will add soon a picture of the complete crawler.
Thanks for sharing your experience
Alexis

Bonjour Yon, ca va ?
Whilst I can not say about the gaskets you picture, Chapter 19 in Australia has made some new gaskets for old gas cats, but I am not sure which ones.
You could try contacting them through the Chapters page of the website.

That head gasket looks like a twenty gasket, attached is a scan from the L and PL20 Parts Catalog.
If your old gasket is the copper type and is in good condition, it can be reused, the process to reuse a copper gasket, is to anneal the gasket prior to reuse, annealing copper is quite simple, I would do some research and practice if you are not familiar with the process. Basically you evenly heat the gasket with a torch to a straw color, and will see waves of color as the torch passes across the metal at the right temperature, then quench in water, if you have to straighten part of it, anneal, then straighten, then anneal again, I repeat, research and practice.

thanks for the answer Josh. Yes, the gasket is very similar to the scan's gasket. Yes, the other possibility could be to reuse it.  I'll part it out and look what it looks like ! I may try to anneal it :although i've never done that with a head gasket. I'll tell you something.
Thank for your advices

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
