I am ready to install the head on the D2 4U. Is it best to put the ferrules and grommets in the head or on the block? Also planning to get some Prematex super 300 to coat both sides of a new head gasket. Am I on the right track? Thank You for any ideas, Gary

not sure, absolutely do not know the gasket material..composition...or Prematex super 300 qualities..we need more info..
-for the record, i'm not a fan of GOOPING up a quality gasket of any kind..your mileage may vary
always dropping GOLD, all you have to do is just pick it UP !

Hi Gary, I put the ferrules and o-rings in the head, and did not apply anything to the head gasket. I don't have any leaks and had no problem fitting the head. I can't say though whether the other options are better
Cheers,

On the block, as mentioned in D311 service maual page 144, larger side of seal towards block and use the Permatex 300
