D4D wiring was created by Cat-bruce
Hi Folks,
Any pictures of wiring for the 82J series. I have 24 volt type. I would be grateful for pictures of wire connections. I know I need to connect the starter switch and amp gauge in the dash along with glo plugs and starter and alternator. Yes it's a mess.
Thanks in advance to anyone who cares to help.

Thanks for the reply. I don’t have lights so this is a little confusing especially since all the wires are gone

If you just have starting and generating, then just wire according to those functions using the diagram. Circuits are essentially the same function. Matter of fact, if you just omit all the circuitry from the ammeter to the light switch and beyond, then you have what your tractor needs most likely

Cheers,

Thanks for the reply’s. So I have an alternator instead of a generator. How do I wire from the amp meter to both poles? Second if I use the light switch at 24 volts do I need special lights or do I need to step the 24 volts down to 12 volts?

The 24v light switch will work fine on 12v.
Typical wiring diagram for alternator.....

So the orange wire. Goes to the red and green terminal on the alternator or just the red terminal. Then what connects to the green terminal? They both are the brushes. Thanks

the difference between 12volt lights and 24volt lights is the bulb. the housing and bulb holder is the same for a given light.
most led lights can operate on either 12 or 24volt. check the spec sheet to be sure.

Thanks old magnet for the alternator diagram. It is most helpful. instead of using two orange wires from the alternator to the light switch and into the amateur. I used an orange and a brown so that I know which is which. I’m including two photographs because I want to be sure that I put the ground wire to the proper terminal. Couldn’t of done it without you. Thanks Cat Bruce.

Here are the pictures. The orange and brown wire are on the positive terminal and I’m looking to ground the negative terminal so I think it goes to the ground on the starter if that’s OK
