Last week I received my new decal set from ACMOC and I wonder if I got the wrong set or if my tractor, during a previous painting, had the wrong stuff on it. Attached are photos of the tractor as it arrived in my shop. I received a decal set that had a much smaller D4 with three lines before the D4 and after. The D4 I received is much smaller than what was on my tractor. Over the years there have been many changes and "farmer fixes" but as a recently passed friend taught me, " it costs just as much to do it wrong as to do it right". My tractor is a 1956 D4 7U36219. Thank you in advance for your help! Elton

Thank you to all! Next and related question....Is there a source for the photo etched patent plate (?) on the right side of the seat, and the serial number tags? Thanks again, Elton

For as high a serial number as you have, the capital block lettering may be correct. I'm not sure when exactly the changeover was but the late 7u's did use that style decal. I guess it depends on what you prefer.

Rome, your picture looks closer to mine than the decals I received. But still different. Could the listing for ACMOC's decal page be missing something? It shows one kit from 1956-1960.

Dpendzic, your dozer looks great! Is the canopy original to the machine, or did you build it? I'd love to have one, it might save the scalp on my head from a stick!

Your decal size looks like something from a later series of D4 than the U series

I have some D4 brochures that show 1-57 with the older style decals on the tractors and one at 8-57 with the late style decals. My tractor starts with 41,000 serial number, so I'm guessing maybe they updated the decals with the 40,000 serial number as the 1957 serial numbers started with 39597 and ended with 42012. Maybe ACMOC has a more accurate date, I dont know.

Correct, those are more from the 60's era similar to the D4C tractor but with "C" series removed.

Elton--the canopy came with the tractor--but i had to replace the roof as the old one was very rotten--I modified the roof a little to more closely match the canopy shown in my parts book
