Hello,

I am interested in finding a small 3 or 3.5 cu yd Henry pan type Scraper if possible to pull with my 6U D4.

They were a small very compact 2 wheel pan type hydraulic scraper, manufactured in Topeka, Kansas for many years.
Henry Mfg.stared in 1946 and was acquired by Allis Chalmers in 1968 per Norm Swinford's Big Book on AC .

Great for small jobs around a farm due to being very compact.

The models I believe were G1, G2, G3, G4..  etc that I suspect is the struck capacity of the scraper.. but not sure.

Any info on models / other info would be appreciated.

Thanks,

R4Dan

I haven't seen a Henry pull scraper in years and the only ones I saw were very small, probably on the order of a yard or less. Never saw one operate so I don't know how it ejects the dirt or if it is a rollover. They always looked top heavy to me and were narrow with a high CG but then again never saw it operate. The last one I saw was at a sale in Belleville KS over 25 years ago and I think it sold for about $100. Hope you come across one but I think they are few and far between. Do you particularly want a Henry or would another brand soil mover suffice?

If impossible to find I will go for a Rowse or Soil Mover.
Thanks

That is much larger than the Henry's I had seen. How do they eject the load?

Thanks for that video Gary. That looks like the size I had seen years ago. Pretty simple. I said ouch every time he sat back in that Cat seat!! :)

D4Jim.. The Henry is a pretty slick design.
The hydraulic cylinder or cylinders dependent upon the size of the scraper push the pan back on an arch and as it rt moves upward the dirt is spread.
My family has a G2 I think it is .. about two yards I guess and it works great because you can back into tight areas and dup your load close to buildings or whatever.
The only problem we have had with that one and it has been in the family for decades is, .. you stay out of high moisture soil or you will dig it out!
I like the smaller one and would like a larger model.

That's very cool and I loved how it just made a clean cut from the get-go. Once you get that ram sorted out, it should be one slick operation. If you're feeling bored one day, you could take all the measurements off it so mog can make us all one each! : )

Cheers,

They are a cute little scraper but if I were going to buy one I would rather have the discharge in front so you can set your blade and control how deep your fill is and blade it out nicer job!

Back in the day those little Henry's were made they were probably pulled by an M International, John Deere A or similar size tractor with hydraulics. A big advantage they would have around the farm is they could be backed up to a building and dump dirt right against the foundation, a heck of a time saver. Sure beats the old tumble bug. Now when one mentions Henry they mean a lever action! :)
That could be a fun toy to pull behind my Super H Farmall.
