I am working on my new to me D6-8U 2337 that I bought with clutch problems. what I found when I pulled the clutch was one clutch link was broken but the rest look new and in great shape is there a reason why only one would blow or did the P.O. just only replace 4 and not 5 is my guess but this is the first time I been into a clutch. the second thing I found was the 2 bolts on the end of the clutch shaft that holds it together are broken/sheared off so no matter how much you adjust the clutch it would never work. the question is what would cause the bolts to shear off? I am going through the rest of the clutch linkage and making new bushing to take up any slop. I am plating on re-using the frictions for the clutch as they look to be in good shape with lots of life left in them. the cat had a slight vibration when I was running at hi rpm but I am thinking it was due to the clutch not being together or is there something I should be looking for I know that's very vague. thanks for your input. thanks for the great info I was looking at it again today and I am sure the motor was changed as the numbers don't match so I better check their ailment too. yes, it will be getting a new throwout bearing and renew all the pins and bushing in the clutch linkage before going back together.

If you are going that far make sure to check the engine alinement. Much easier to get out of alinement with a dozer than in farming. But D6 I got to farm with was out of alinement with no sign of ever having a dozer on it.

I hate to ask but can someone give me part numbers for the clutch links and throw out bearing. They have 9B399 on the clutch link but that’s not working . Other interesting things the bearing rollers have a grove cut in for grease? Never seen that before. Not having luck finding a parts book right now thanks for any help. The new system doesn't recognize some of the old numbers, you have to add a zero in front of the number. I just typed in 9b0399 and went right to your clutch linkages

I don't have a parts book for the 9U so I can't look up the bearing number. I do have a book for the 5R which I think has the same clutch. Are you looking for the bearing you show in the picture or the bush in the throw out collar?

The 9b399 is a good number for the link and the bearing assambly is 1b4369

Thanks for the very quick help. I will put them to good use. The adding a 0 is great idea.

Well, I got my new clutch link in today and much to my surprise it was a rubber/fiber link, not plastic like what I took out. They’re only 3/8 of an ounce or 10 grams different in weight. So my plan is to mix them 4 plastic and one rubber one as they are 125 each and well money’s doesn’t grow on trees. I almost made one my self as we have thick plastic at work maybe I still should? Thanks for the help and input.

Considering the weight of the rotating mass and the relatively low speed of the engine i wouldn't hesitate to use the new one within 10 grams of the original ones

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
