Dumb question, I know that CAT produced the above gauge to give a more sensitive scale for oil pressure range on the D315, I know there was a service bulletin out about it. So I thought I'd be clever and put one on my D4400 powered 2T. But having read in the Servicemen's Reference Book that the operating pressure for the D4400 should be 30 pounds, I'm now thinking maybe this gauge won't be suitable? Anybody used this gauge on a D4400? And if it's the wrong gauge what should I be looking for instead?

Regards,

Tony

Hi Deebo,
Cat literature below on the gauge scale readings---hope this helps.
Cat gauges read maximum pressure reading at the pressure indicated and are so designed to not be damaged at reasonable cold oil excess pressure readings above the maximum indicated.
Cheers,
Eddie B.

Hi Daryl, do you have a photo of that 1W5353 oil gauge, I'm curious to see what the face looks like.
Thanks

So reading that bulletin from Eddie it says in there about operating pressure being 30psi for those engines too so that makes me think the 7F-9084 will work for the D4400 too. And Handy on startup as it’s more sensitive or am i missing something as usual?

Thanks for the links BruceOz, the only negative with those new gauges is they are too "modern" looking for my old girls, we need accurate oil pressure gauges but they need to look right too, the subject of making new oil gauges for old Cats has been mooted for a long time.

Bruce, do those old-style gauge faces fit new, current gauges, or only the original gauges?

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
