Still listed as "Elevating" in my 1998 "Serial/Product Identification Number Index"????? Nothing elevating about it!!!!
NPR shows 9A3001 up, as 491 series B, nothing about elevating.
A 9A0491 scraper should be a J621 elev. scraper Australia built ,it would be pulled by a 621 tractor. They were called a Johnson elevating scraper.
A 9A 3000+ scraper would be a 491 cable pull scraper.
A 491B would be a cable control unit.
A 9A prefix is also used on 7 other machines.

I show 941B to be a 80Hxxxx track loader.
491.... 9A3001-up elevating scraper which is a mistake but I think your on to something for s/n's before 9A3001

491....4 wheel (27 yd) 98C00001
491B....Cable (27 yd) 47E00001
491C....Cable (27 yd) 47E00001
You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.
Hi, Johan7.
No help. I am about as much use on this one as a breast pocket in a G-string or an udder on a hen. I have never even seen a Cat drawn scraper in DowNunder, only LeTourneaus.
I did get to see a couple of the Cat J621 elevating scrapers but that's about it from that era. Never did see any DW20s or DW21s, only one 630A and heaps of 631s.
Just my 0.02.
First scan is the 9A section of the old paper NPR, second is from the Caterpillar Serial/Product Identification Number Index, dated 5/90.![]()
