I thought I would move the front knocker/check breaker comments to this area of the bulletin board.
Good news, as I have sourced some for my D2 projects, thanks to a very nice member (you know who you are! Hahaha)
Someone once told me the name of the manufacturer, which I have long since forgotten.
Any ideas here? Skinner did show me some literature of ones offered by CAT way back in the gas era lines of crawlers. Was there more than one maker of these “accessories”? I have seen ones besides the ones in the photos.
BTW, I still need some for a D4....
Thank you everyone. JM

I just made a comment over on the for sale/wanted forum. I looked at the add for the 15 that recently sold here in California and in the photos of the 15, there is a Cat off to the side that has the ridge breakers on it. Lots of us have never seen them, so I thought it was a way to see what we are talking about. Just another 2 cents worth. Grant.

The ones on the 15 thread look to be shop made compared to the ones on Juicemans photos. Grant.

Check breakers
In the picture a caterpillar 15 Is making a ridge to form a irrigation check. When you cross over the ridge to make a cross ridge with out the “check breakers” the operator would be thrown Out of the seat and over the hood without the check breakers to smooth out the front of the tracks.

Default The Big Track
Hi Team,
fairly sure I recall seeing some of the Check Breakers shown in the Caterpillar Film "The Big Track" from back in the early 1960'S when I was a first year Apprentice, there was a machine zooming around in an orchard ploughing around the trees in one part of it.
Scan below of a style of Check Breaker offered in the Twenty Two Tractor Parts Book.
Am sure I recall others with springs on too.
Cheers,
Eddie B.
