Here is the picture of my set up to disk the recently plowed field. It needed about 10 days to dry out before I was able to disk the field. It is still a little moist so I will disk again next week, then use a ring roller to finish. Sorry it is sideways!

Looks good Ang. Is that an old IH unibeam disk? Quite a workout for any tractor with it being opened so far.
I’m envious. Only mud puddles here. Don’t wish to get my tractors dirty! JM

-looks great Angelo! envious of your weather:nod:

-is it common practice for crawlers, dozers doing field work in California etc..? that is something you would never see here in Western Canada...almost everything here is done with large rubber tired 4 wheel-drive tractors...the odd one with rubber tracks(only recently)

-the only time steel undercarriage is used here is breaking land or undeveloped ground..

J.M., the disk identification is correct. It was set in the max open position for this particular field because it was especially "lumpy". The D4 7U struggled going uphill and I had to drop into second gear most of the way. I might even close it up a couple notches next time out. I was working the field again today for about 5 hours. The weather is sunny at 66 degrees with a pretty strong wind. This will work out fine because the soil is still pretty moist. I might ring roll it Saturday, then disk again after that.

Nice to see someone getting a little winter seat time. Our adobe is so wet the cat would sink up to the top of the tracks. Hasnt rained a whole bunch but just enough to keep the soil soaked! Take care, happy discing!

I have been fighting 😞 adobe myself, making discing no fun. Finally getting clods and weeds looking better. But leveling device behind disc would still be a challenge. 😉 That's what I big field cultivator is for at my place rather than the weeds it gets here in winter.Known a recreational tillage, but it pays when we make hay and it is smooth.

Lol Ray54, I’d sure like to perform some “recreational tillage” here. I went to my mothers place yesterday and had the itch to start up my AC HD-6E. Boy, she was all on my case; she stormed out to the edge of the field (still had her lucky casino stuff with her) and told me if I was gonna do any “playing”
It had better be with one of my CATs. I guess moms always seem to know best!
Weeds are only an inch and a half tall... they can wait. JM
