Hello,
First post. Last week we just got ourselves a 1961 D4C 40A. Been sitting at least 15 years. No batteries, a squirt of ether and pulled about 6 feet and she fired right up. Loaded it up and took it home and put new batteries in it and replaced most all of the fluids, filters and a grease job.
My first time on a older D4, had a Allis HD10 a while ago and ran D7G's in the Army.
Anyway, it had new sprockets etc, not too long before it was parked. Fine machine. Did a little dozing today.
Only on issue so far, no (does work sometimes) turn right going forward. Left forward, right and left reverse work great. Apparently brake not working right for turning right going forward. I bought and received the service manual, so I will see how to adjust accordingly. Give it a try anyhow.
And, I have a picture of a short shaft that comes out of the back of the cylinder head, which has a nail (?) in it. It turns a quarter turn, but we have no idea what it is or for. Any help would be great.
Thanks,
cb1
