Does anyone have any info on a backhoe attachment that would fit a D4D? Model number?

Rare if you can find one....
Look for a s/n 23Jxxxx model backhoe. Fits 78A-up D4, 922 Traxcavator 59A and 94A and 944 Traxcavator 43A.

Even rarer is the Hyster version...

Thanks for the info Old Magnet! So just to be clear, it's just called a CAT backhoe attachment? There's not a model name or anything? For instance, the Hyster is a D4B... is there a model number for the CAT version?

I dont think Cat made one until the 931 Track Loader and the D3 Dozer came out.

It seems to me I seen a Wain-Roy backhoe attachment on D4D or a 922-944 wheel loader some time ago

I remember seeing a Wain-Roy on a machine (can't remember which) at the ConExpo in Chicago in 1976. That was also the first time I saw a Cat 215 excavator that was being made in Belgium.

I had a John Deere #50 backhoe on my 7U D4. It ran well with the 44 pump. I had to make the mounting bracket.

Well, I have been looking around and definitely have not found a single CAT Backhoe attachment for sale anywhere. I did, however, come across and Allis Chalmers 615 backhoe attachment for sale a few hours away from me. The seller says that it was operating correctly when removed from his crawler. He wants $800 for it.

Now, I understand that I would have to fab up a mounting bracket on the back of the D4D , but I'm not sure if there would be any other reasons why I couldn't make this work.

This backhoe would run off of the tractor hydraulic system, not the PTO. The hydraulic system on the D4D has the bypass on the tank, so from what I understand, I should be able to get the fittings to put on the tank that would give me an extra hydraulic line that I could run to the backhoe.

If anyone has any advice about this, please let me know. If anyone knows the part numbers for the fittings for the tank, and anything else that I might need, your help would be very greatly appreciated.
