I had a John Deere #50 backhoe on my 7U D4. It ran well with the 44 pump. I had to make the mounting bracket.
Well, I have been looking around and definitely have not found a single CAT Backhoe attachment for sale anywhere. I did, however, come across and Allis Chalmers 615 backhoe attachment for sale a few hours away from me. The seller says that it was operating correctly when removed from his crawler. He wants $800 for it.
Now, I understand that I would have to fab up a mounting bracket on the back of the D4D , but I'm not sure if there would be any other reasons why I couldn't make this work.
This backhoe would run off of the tractor hydraulic system, not the PTO. The hydraulic system on the D4D has the bypass on the tank, so from what I understand, I should be able to get the fittings to put on the tank that would give me an extra hydraulic line that I could run to the backhoe.
If anyone has any advice about this, please let me know. If anyone knows the part numbers for the fittings for the tank, and anything else that I might need, your help would be very greatly appreciated.
