well I try to install my belt pully on my D2-3J cat and found that there was not enough room. would having a fender tank and ruglar seat help? looks like one is going to have to lift the seat tank up something like what is done when you install a winch after reading thought the winch manual it shows seat supports on page 26-27 (7) left and right. dose anyone like how tall is the C channel that was used? right now i think about using some 3" C channel which should give me room for the belt pulley and make things a little comfortable for me as I am 6'2". second thing what your thoughts on my belly hook was told it was for a d2 eather it's the nonfactory belly pan on my cat that has it too far forward or it's too big? did they make different size for the D2 -D4?

There was sold an extension shaft and housing to move it back a bit, don't know if it would be suited for your application. You could make your own to suit.

Use the 3" channel to raise the seat, you will be much happier!
And possibly consider moving the seat back an inch or two......

Hi Martin,
the D2 pulley is pretty close anyway to the seat tank so the pulley part looks about right but the breather is the problem. I'm not sure how that was dealt with back in the day. But since a D2 set up is a bit cramped for someone of your stature, Jeff's suggestion of 3" channel is a good way to do. I did that on mine (there are probably some pictures on here somewhere) and also set the seat back in the rearmost position. You feel like you're sitting way up high but it definitely gives the legroom and will provide plenty of clearance for the pulley, and for any access that you might need under there.
You might need to look into some additional support under the fenders since the J-series has the pressed steel versions and sitting up on channels leads to a bit of sideways torquing on the mounts as you rumble around the paddock

thanks for the info guys. Niel evin with the breather off there would not be room to slip a belt on the pully that I could see.

I agree, as tall as you are Martin you will need that extra height and a few notches back will ease that knee pain after a long days work.
