3406 starter on a D330A

I don't believe there is anything unique about the 3406 starter but the D330A will require a 1M0023 adapter.
What model starter is on the 3406?

I think that starter is the mirror image of the one you need. The starters on those machines are mounted on the left side of the engine as it sits in the loader with the fan toward the back.

That appears to be a DENSO? for a much smaller engine, but maybe it is a planetary gear reduction type and will do the job. Still, it would mount on the right side of the flywheel as the engine sits in the loader. Maybe the drive end housing can be unbolted and clocked for the opposite side.

The going rate for a new import Delco 42MT knock-off is about $240 US. Anything else is going to have to be CHEAP. I pulled the one from probably 1989 off my tractor the other day and discovered it had a thin adapter ring to mount in the bell housing of the 855 Cummins. Thats a first for me, I never saw an adapter used except on the old Caterpillars that have the big hole for the buzz bomb ponies. I was able to get it going and reinstall it, so I didnt have to investigate the actual configuration I had to buy another one.

Are others seeing an image of the starter? If so, it's no showing up on my computer????

Can't tell for sure if that drive end housing is indexible.
Is the 330A originally pony start or direct electric start? (bevel gear flywheel teeth or straight tooth)
If a bevel gear starter drive is required they are only are available for the 40,42,50 MT starters.

Hi OM how are you i have one off those starters off of a 855 i should see if the bevel pinion will fit because would give you a lot more room they are a lot smaller than the delco s planety as cj says mine come off a kenworth i put air starter on its 24 v too
