I'm contemplating new rollers for my 5U13753 with 33-link chains. I want to fit D3 rollers because they're easy to procure and once my track frames are modified, easy to fit. However there are several models of D3 so I was curious if there were major differences between the rollers through the series such as diameter, rail size to fit, spacing of bolt holes, etc.
I did see one difference in the carriers in that one series has what appears to be anti-torque bolts and another series does not have them. Otherwise, they look identical.

I'd have to do some digging but as I recall the rollers that work are from early D3 units.

don't know if this helps but for a D3B--27y-03729--DF is 3t-4353, SF is 3t-4352 and carrier is 6s-3609 or 275-3578

By early I meant for the 79Uxxxx models with 6S3607 SF and 6S3608 DF.

And I think 6S3609 is the carrier roller?
Went off on a tangent with Ritchiewiki - did not know that there were direct drive versions of the D3 up through D3C Series II and something called a powershift-direct drive transmission in the D3C Series III - is that a planetary transmission behind a manual clutch?

In any case, I'm guessing there's a website that shows link dimensions for the various serial # ranges that I could review to look for compatibility?

Yes, 6S3609 is the carrier roller.
I'm looking at the parts manual for the D3C & D3C LGP, XL Series lll Tractors (Power shift).
No mention of an engine clutch, has planetary transmission S/N 6SL1-up, 7XL1-up, 9TS1- up (3406 engine) April 1997. I suspect what they might eventually call a Direct Drive Power Shift is the ability to lock up the torque converter but I really don't know.
Yes, they produced some direct drive units, "Special Application" but they are not all that common.

the direct drive powershift transmission. i am not sure exactly how it works but i don't think it has a torque converter. i have run one in the past and it shifted exactly like a powershift but it was a direct drive. you could select any gear at anytime but you could lug it down and kill the engine just like a direct drive.

D46U straight blade,D46U cat angle blade,allis chalmers AD4 grader and Khoering 404 dragline. D4C 40A,D4 2T and scraper.

That's exactly what affect you would have with a lock-up capable torque converter.

Thanks for that information. I can see that if I go to D3 chains one day (early), then I would need to get the early D3 weld-on rim fitted to the D2 hubs.

Bursitis, did that direct drive-powershift have a clutch pedal or lever? The reason I ask is that on ritchiewiki for the D3C Series III LGP, they make a distinction between a torque convertor-powershift model 7XL and 9CL, and a direct drive-powershift model 8DL (of which 101 were produced). They both may have been torque convertor but only the 8DL had the lock-up capability. A parts catalog would solve that puzzle.
Wouldn't mind finding a direct drive 5F-4R Series I 7JF with 101hp as the undercarriage is not that expensive.....
Saw a picture of an 8DL on machinerytrader - has three pedals; brake, decelerator, and another pedal...

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
