I think that's a DW-6 and not a D9. They were a D6 converted to rubber tires.

Hi, d9gdon.
Perhaps you need to have another look at it. The whole back end is way different from any of the DW6s, it has the dash-mounted steering controls of the D9D/E, you can see the left side of the D353 engine, the seat is offset to the left instead of center-sit and the sheer size of it compared to the operator is way bigger than a DW6.

Hi, TimT.
Thanks for sharing. That is one interesting modification for sure.

It does look like dry land clearing which would likely mean harder woods - and more punctures - and King Ranch is not renowned for publicizing their activities, so that could well be a possibility. It will be interesting to see what information they can dig up on it.

Just my 0.02.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Thats a D9 chassis. The Cat dealer in Florida did allot of conversions on D4 and D6 tractors. Cat did make some on the D2-D6's also.

Hi, Folks.
O.K., so now that we have 'finally' established that it IS a (slightly) modified D9, what now? Who knows anything more about it, like 'whodunnitt', 'whohadditt and why?

A kew-ree-yuss mind would like to know. Maybe more than just one.

The HCEA Tom Berry, Archivist. Ad Gevers posted a couple more on https://www.facebook.com/groups/402298139960232/...scroll down a bit in the discussion. Its a public page. One of the guys noticed In the large photo, on the blade it says "St Joe Land"....Well that would make sense, St Joe Land Company owned a million acres of land in Florida.... They built a huge paper mill. Cleared scrub, replanted.. now add to the fact that the very first rubber tired 6's came from the Clewiston Motor Company..in Florida..and I think we might have an idea who owned it and used it. Here is the Wiki page on St Joe Land Co.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Joe_Company ..and this

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
