So while I was at the big swap meet this last weekend I saw this bolt-on hydraulic pump adaptor riding around in the back of a golf cart and took a few minutes to look it over and get a couple of pics. We were able to verify that it bolts directly to a D2 PTO housing and is driven by the PTO shaft - it appears to be geared up a bit faster on the pump end, but the pump looks rather small compared to the Cat equivalents of the day. The housing itself did not look to have a Cat type casting number on it either. My question is, does anybody recognize this unit? And if so, what did it provide hydraulic power for? Being mounted to the rear PTO it wouldn't be live power, so I'm really curious about this setup. Any ideas?

Can't say that I've seen that exact version but looks like it is probably a 2:1 speed increaser which would allow a higher speed smaller pump to put out a higher volume and possibly higher pressure. Application could be just about anything requiring hydraulic drive. Meets the challenge of a high volume output without a monster pump like you would need to match say a #44 unit.

I have one of those units, one nice thing is it uses those readily available hydraulic pumps.

Pump brand is Unknown, gear ratio on the drive is 35 to 15, input shaft is 3/4" keyed, mount appears to be standard, pump numbers in picture.

Other than a decal that says something about oil level and type, cant make it out, there is nothing on the unit, no casting numbers or anything else.

I was able to find a series of numbers stamped into the exterior of the case that resembled a casting number or other I.D. but no manufacturer name or tag. They weren't stamped very deep, unfortunately I didn't take a close up picture of them.

o-I-h, no I didn't bring this unit home as it was already being carried by its new owner - it is an interesting piece for sure.

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
