I know where there are a couple steam cranes and shovels they would be a little beyond 250 mikes from there. They are located in southern WI. As far as I know they are not for sale either. One is nearing the end of restoration. Better than new a real show piece.

not saying it can't be done but they ant cheap to fix up or keep around as the boiler work is costly. you need MTR for all your piping and valves. do you have a steam ticket? most place you have to have a licence to run the boiler/ machine. not sure if they fall under engine or train. there a lot more to them then just building a fire. keep us posted on your hunt. p.s. i am by no way a steam guy just hang around a few.

In MN you need your historical boilers license to operate. Transportation is the LEAST of your costs.

You need a lic. In MN you do plus inspection. In WI you do not need a lic but a yearly inspection. Any work that is done has to documented for the inspector. You normally can not get the piping you need for steam from from your local hardware store. If repairs need to be done in the boiler it will have to be done or certified by a boiler repair shop that has a R stamp.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
