Do all your rollers look like that one? I thought usually the ones in the middle of the track frame have a flange on the inside to help keep them aligned though I've never really looked on my old machines because they all have rock guards that help hold the rails in the right spot.
Allowing that the track is in reasonably good shape, this running off might have to do with the idler wobbling all over the place from worn or broken axle or the plates and axle ends worn out or broken, OR it might have to do with the track frames being out of line with the sprockets or flopping around. Or it might have to do with flanges busted off the rollers. What model is the tractor?
It doesn't appear that you have rock guards on the tractor. Is that correct?
It's a D6 9U. There are NO problems with the rollers. The only rollers that are "open" are the ones next to the sprocket .
When I was installing "new" rollers, I measured alignment of tracks with a string. They were pretty close.
I tried to check the rear bearings at the same time with a big bar. I could not get any movement from the rear axles - but I'm a novice at this. My tracks are properly adjusted and appear to be in good shape. Not really any rock guards, but no rocks involved at my location.
Thanks !
I reckon its time for a track measure up, if the link is dropping right inside the roller next to the sprocket, there is an awful lot of slack there somewhere.
Hey Tognot,
I’m not very familiar with your D6. Did you acquire this Cat at a “Friend Price?” :confused2:
