The subject: 2500HD Cat hauler.
On a recent trip to the Midwest I found a leaking trans oil cooler. Once I got home, checking around found coolers just at $300, which is a lot for a guy that was on vacation for a cat parts round-up. Anyway, I ripped out some fins, cleaned & roughed it up. I wrapped some tape around the end as a dam and poured in the 6 min/4 hr cure formulation. I haven't been on a long shake down cruise, but it is working so far.

Have a tube of epoxy that was bought at Home Depot. 2 big caulking gun tubes that inject at the same rate. One black and 1 white. It is used for setting bolts into concrete. I think it is the same as JB weld. I have a 2 lifetime supply. Use it for everything. Love the stuff. Even used to patch a busted/frozen/cracked engine block.

I wouldn't trust that.

No reason you can't use an aftermarket, universal transmission cooler and plumb it into the existing hoses and mount it in the same location. They are like $40 on ebay.

Oh, I could have some reasons. One is the time to get the mount just the way I like it. Or wanting to keep the original style lines, which are mostly metal with threaded fittings & o rings.
One day I will make a more permanent repair, if I don't sell the pickup, or it doesn't die (over 300k miles)

FYI:

The way to remove a bolt set in concrete where epoxy was used as the anchoring agent; hit it with heat, some use a propane torch, some use a heat gun. I would suspect that the heat of an engine might release the epoxy. Don't know for sure. I do know about removing 3/4"-10 studs set in epoxy.
I'm not afraid of hard work; I can lay down beside it anytime and take a nap.

Hi, STEPHEN.
At the ACMOC National Show at Santa Margarita Ranch last year, the ranch's recently acquired D9H was found to have a 'patch' of JBweld about 3" - 4" across in the underside of the transmission case. NOT leaking.

Just my 0.02.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

As long as it is not a structural fix JB weld should last just fine. My log skidder has been running for many years with a 4" crack in the bottom of the power shift tranny that was repaired at -20 F with JB weld. We pre-heated the metal to a warm touch with a torch and then left a generator running with a chicken brooder heat lamp on it until it cured.

That why some of us live in 3 season weather! (Cold, Wet, Hot) 😆

Hi, Drujinin.
You can have my share of it. As far as I am concerned, this strip of coastal eastern Australia from about Coffs Harbour, New South Wales, to Hervey Bay, Queensland, is one of the very few places on Earth that are 'ackshully' FIT for human habitation. LOL.

How many places do you know where you can live outdoors in shorts, T-shirt and thongs (footwear type) all year round? I can - and do - here. And I don't miss the skeeter-slappin' either.

Just my 0.02.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
