I was out and about yesterday, and was allowed the opportunity to snap a picture. I thought it was a neat piece of yard art; it would really be cool to see it in action again.
Some of you have already seen it in person. I’m hoping ctsnowfighter will chime in after a few comments!

I am not able to figure out how it works. There is usually a belt conveyor that is situated between the ascending buckets and the "dumped" buckets which have made their way around the head pulley. This looks like the "dumped" buckets load would fall right down into the one still coming up (below it) which in turn would dump into the one following it, such that, it would never have a clean dump. Also, at the bottom, there seems to be a set of tracks. Not sure how that works if it is running in a clogged ditch.

No doubt Tony would get it running, but first he'd have to figure out how it floats! Actually, this is more in line with what Todd would use!

JM, did you get any other shots from a different angle?

Ok Deas, you probably have a picture of this thing in use. Lets have it!

Great Picture Juiceman!

( he talks about those "baker bandits" but I think the Juiceman may be running a very close second! He is getting very close to where I was raised, and now I know he has the contact that knows where some more iron is in hiding! )

This machine sat on a canal for many years. As I remember, it had a 10-20 McCormick Deering Engine for power but that was not the original power supply. A couple of the local kids took the engine to repower the 10-20 they were farming with. The main farming engine was a CAT THIRTY, but when it threw a rod through the crankcase, they fired up a 25 Best and pulled the Thirty back to the garage for the rebuild. I do not know where the 25 ended up.

My Dad and Steve teamed up to move it to it's present location along with some other locals.

For all really wanting to know -- it is a RUTH DREDGER, used for cleaning and digging canals and drainage ditches. NO belt, it dumped on the bank. Width was adjustable to fit the various widths of the canals.
Type - RUTH DREDGER in Google, you will find information.

Thanks JM --

CTS; if the 25 you’re talking about belonged to a family whose last name starts with a G, I’m pretty sure it’s still in town
