While I have not been active here in the forums, I have kept in touch with many of the people who I have met from here over the years. One of them was Dell Dalgliesh,, AKA Cat D-9. For those of you who do not know he has been battling brain cancer for nearly a year now. I just got of the phone with his stepmom, Last night Aug 22, 2017 about 8 PM Dell passed away.

Dell was a friend to many here and in the old iron community in general. He will be missed by many.

Thank you Ian for passing the word along, Del made a trip from North Dakota to Minnesota this last may and made time to stop and pay me a visit along the way. He was feeling pretty good then despite his recent troubles and we had a good time visiting and looking at equipment. My condolences go out to his family.

I'm saddened to hear of Dells untimely passing after losing his battle with cancer. We had many a long and good-humoured chat on the ACME chatroom.
Dells love of Screemers was legend, I think he claimed he had over 50 of them. Here's hoping Dell is firing up Screemers with glee, where he's hanging out, now! RIP Dell.

I had the pleasure of spending a few days with Dell in Sarles, ND. population 12 about 6 yrs ago. Had the pleasure of hauling some dirt with his GMC 18 wheeler and helping him around the shop. Dell was a real good guy and will be missed.

Had the pleasure of visiting Dell in Sarles on two enjoyable visits many moons ago(WOW...maybe 12yrs back!)! He was full of fun and knowledge......and many
opposing views on life...LOL He made sure I met almost everyone in town....all 15 of them.....especially those at the elevator where to coffee was free!
He had more generators than anyone I very knew...he enjoyed being "off the grid" as much as possible!! Think we visited all his friends within 20 miles of town.
Even if they weren't home he knew where the Keys were and I got to see all kinds of cars/truck & equipment

My strongest memory is a scary one....Dell was finishing up burying an old garage in a pit for a neighbor who he referred to as "the old widow"....I sat and
watched as he was finishing up using his front-end loader....somehow he got right rear wheel hung out in space and I thought he was about topple into the pit
the way it was rocking back n' forth. He positioned his v. small backhoe and chained it to the loader and gave me a short "lesson" how to back up w/o spinning
the tracks and climbed back into loader and the next few minutes were v.v. "interesting" as in scary .....finally we managed to get the loader back on solid ground.
Then we went to have tea and cookies with "the old widow".....LOL The last visit a few yrs later was fun/exciting as well. Sylvester came down from North of the border
and the 3 of us were leveling and clearing a space for Dell near his barn.....we finished and shut off the D-8 & 2 D7's. Then Dell decided he wanted the D-7's moved back
to where he parked the D-8. My D7 was down and we decided to puts start it...being blade to blade it was a reverse start....after several minutes of positioning clutch
and tranny levers the push start worked perfectly, well almost......about a gallon of hot oil coughed out of the air cleaner and I haven't had to re-oil those boots since...LOL

Will miss his bigger the life attitude and love of fun & life!! God Bless you Dell and keep on keeping on having "fun"....Bro.! :amen:

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
