Steamdrum1,

I sent a message to Kent Bates, maybe he can help. Or Maybe he is already on it...

Steamdrum1,

Work is progressing on the 657. She just came out of the paint system today, and looks darn good. Do any of you know a source for the correct decals for this machine. The decals that are still available from Cat are the ones with the corporate C logo and would not be correct for 1962. Even drawings or good pictures would be appreciated. if I can translate some dimensions and have a few good pictures I can have a local graphics company make a set of decals. Thanks for the help Bill

Hello Steamdrum,
It's a very good project . For the decals 3 possibility the first model have a big CATERPILLAR on the 2 arm and only a little 657 on the bowl , the 2 model have CATERPILLAR and 657 on the bowl and the 3 model it's with the pacman logo for the last model's built . Your model it's not the first version because the fixing hydraulic 2 cylinders bowl it's not triangular but it's not the last models because the arms are not very large (3 different size I think) . Your problem on this model it's the fenders are not original and not the guard group ejector overflow. Sorry for my English. Good courage

Been keeping tabs on this restoration as I love scrapers. Just wondering if you have any recent updates on it? Perhaps pictures of it since it was in for paint? Excited to see the end result.

Cheers

Sorry everyone, its been a busy fall. Here are a few pics right after everything was finished up. Kelly was the nickname given to the scraper by its longtime operator. We were all shocked and saddened by Billys death. The finishing touches were put on Kelly only a few days before he passed away. She is now on semi permanent display in front of the plant.

This looks great! I am glad to see such a nice restoration on this machine. Great job! Now I have to get down to the plant for sure in the summer and see Kelly in person.

Cheers
Nate
