There is a 977 loader for sale near me that I'm going to look at on Thursday. At least they say it's a 977. It's direct drive, I thinks that's a huge plus, isn't it? Were many made that were direct drive? Here are the pics that they sent me. I will get more when I look at it.

Hi, Catboy1.
What you have there seems to be an 'H' model 977, before the 'K' and the 'L' which both had 'walk-through' operator stations. If my memory serves me rightly - which it occasionally still does - the later 'H' models were the first of the powershift 977s. All the 977s that I ever worked on or around were good, powerful, robust, reliable machines.
Just my 0.02.
You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

My book lists all 977H as power shift, so if direct drive it is a 977 D or E. The E has heavier undercarriage D7 based I think. 100 HP 35,000 lbs for the E 1958 60, and 100 HP 32000 lbs for the D 1955 to 60.

They is not an H model, its an old direct drive 20A series machine, dating back to the 1950's.

A bit more info, the 20A 977 was based on the old U series D6, the early ones even used D6 undercarriage but the later were D7 size, we could do with more pics overall of this machine, unusual to see a towing winch, but I fitted three on Traxcavators during my apprenticeship and someone has gone to the expense of fitting a ROPS on it.

Could well be, those of you who know the cockpit better than me will know, the real tell-tale is in the shape of the fuel tank and loader linkage difference.
