I have been around a few, and they looked to be grey in color. I believe they would have came with a Thirty or a Sixty and others from that era. I do stand to be corrected.

Had the camera set wrong so not a great result. Grease pot is stripped down for cleaning and twenty not home yet so this is all you get for now.
Twenty is ser L732 so should be grey I believe 1927 build. Needs a couple of bonnet catches and a lot of cleaning. I have the front idler covers but they are going to take a lot of panel beating with a big hammer. Rails are thin but should do all I want.
These two bought at a sale in South Australia last week. Three other tractors to come back for others so it will be a full load on 44ft trailer.

Hi Pete
Good to hear from you. This one was very easy to strip down to individual components to clean. Planning to put it back together with a gasket with no cut out to keep the inside of the pump clean. Will not pump but only two bolts to take the pot off if need to recommission.

I have operators instructions for a sixty and a grease pot so you are way ahead.
Hope to visit you again but could be a while before I get your way again.
cheers Colin(WF)

Col, congrats on your purchase of the Twenty. Prices seemed reasonable for most of the tractors.
Was there much interest at the sale?

I purchased a couple of these style pumps from the Peter Squire sale a couple of years ago.

Refer to an old post titled: Very OLD Caterpiller Grease PUMP Info.
This has some nice pictures of three different types.

I also checked some operators instruction manuals. As stated by others in this post, the straight tripod style legs appears to suit the 30 and sixty tractors.
(Was this a Best carryover??).

Anyone know what Holt offered with their tractors pre the merger?

Fifteen manual shows bowed tripod style legs (Ten tractor image to dark to identify leg type).

All tractors beyond the first series of Caterpillar tractors show the tapered style container.(25,28, 22 , 7c 15, 8C 20, 35, etc.).

My riveted drum also has the Caterpillar brass label, whilst the non riveted drum doesn't have the tag.
Refer to other post for for handle, nut and other common components with tractor parts.

Howdy Colin.

Thats a very neat tractor and great buying. Good to see it going to a good home. S/N of our twenty is L735 so very close to yours. Guess they would have been shipped out together.

Cheers

Haven't heard from you in a while. Very close ser no indeed almost twins.Thought it was 1927 but now looks like 1928. Well before my time is a good excuse for a year out. 1 in 89 is getting to be a small margin.
Won't get this one home for a month or so yet but starting to get a few together.
cheers Colin
