Lots of trees down, but no one was hurt. The container saved the shop from the pine tree I planted 35 years ago. More winds predicted tomorrow.

Looks nasty Bill, good friends in King City were saying a couple of days ago how Lake Naciamento was quickly heading to full capacity, looks like the Salinas Valley might get a flood this spring?

3J1Bill - I'm glad no one was hurt, hope no tractors were hurt either. Looks like that container was just in the right spot. I always hate to lose any nice, big shade tree.

We had some high winds of our own down here the weekend before last and last weekend. We had sustained winds at 70 miles per hour and several gusts measured over 100 miles per hour near Garlic Mom's both weekends. She had one Sycamore which had only had a few live sprigs for the past several years finally give up the ghost. It smashed the front of the hood and radiator top on our Ford 9N walnut shaker.

The hood damage wasn't too bad, probably couldn't be straightened, but adds to the character of the machine. Surprisingly, even though it crushed down the filler neck and top tank, the radiator doesn't appear to leak. Both top and bottom hoses are leaking around the fittings. The hoses are pretty petrified and apparently all the movement when the radiator was crushed broke loose the hose to barb seal. They're just drips and I suspect they'll seal off after a while.

Saturday we used the John Deere 350BB to lift the tree off the hood and fish the Ford out from under it. While lifting it, I noticed once I got the tree off the Ford enough to fish it out of there that the John Deere had the whole tree off the ground. That made it easy to move the tree out across the road where chopping it up will be easy.

Pete, glad to see you can get in to do some cleanup. Lot's of old CAT's damaged here. but not the restored ones "yet". But you can't really completely smash these old tractors with a tree. Everyone be safe working in this new coming storm. I will be not be working on my santa margarita project, "Military" CAT 22" for now, but I did get the tracks painted with some (new water base flat olive drab). Really nice to work with!

That wind after this much rain really puts the trees to the test. We passed 36 inches here for the season so far. Imagine you are well past that.

Regardless if nature did it, it's always a shame to see trees destroyed.

Come on Neil we already have well feed coyotes, lions, eagles, and bears plus a stray wolf or 3 from Oregon. We need something big that can fight back elk maybe ...... Oh there are already spreading nicely so as to take fences down so the sheep could be out in the road for snowflakes to run into. And we all know what trauma that would gives a snowflake.

On a more serous note after 5 dry years it is nice to see green everywhere this season.

Dpete had that in 94 was not as bad as first thought. But still major job that took some thinking to get back without modern sky hooks. A determent brother in law that lost his job at 63 in a corporate cost cutting moves made it happen. With the improvement of full width doors for a hay squeeze to fill it.

Everybody stay safe with all the storm clean up that will be coming.
