Mr. Cronkite also hosted two other excellent stories that were featured on the "Caterpillar Through The Years" tapes, that were released some years ago.
One was "The Eighth Sea", the building of the St. Lawrence Seaway, a monumental project for sure!

After viewing that last film about the Seabees extending the runway I now realize I miss-understood what a "wingman" was. I always thought they had there own plane but now I see they just sat out on the wing tip! 😊

I thought it was the comic relief guy that helped win the girl? "You've lost that lovin' feeling..."

The bloke sitting on the wing tip is there to guide the pilot , as with the plane tail wheel on the ground the pilot is looking into the sky and cannot see where he is going. Must have been a lot of tragic accidents with planes running into the back of another.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
