TOGNOT and I went and rescued his new D6 in Parkfield, Ca. today. I had fun driving down a 1/2 mile flooded paved road and had a good lunch at the local cafe.

The D6 needs some work but with TOGNOT having yellow fever so I'm sure he'll be spending some time on the BB. TN likes to study up and get things fixed right by the second time. LoL

I offered to buy Oilslick steak and lobster, which is his favorite meal (if someone else is paying) but he politely declined, saying my company was payment enough. We did meet some nice folks and fellow old tractor aficionados. Here are better pics of the project. Thanks to Oilslick for helping to inspect and transport.

Just curious, as I know many of the residents of Parkfield, would you mind sharing the name of the prior owner. Congratulations on your acquisition, nice looking ride. I grew up just over the hill in Ranchita/Hog Canyon.

Casey, although the D6 was in Parkfield, the actual owner lived about 30 minutes away. " Matt" sold the D6 to me. I recall he knows several ACMOC members, but is not one himselfT.he story was the D6 was headed for scrap a few years back and he brought it home from the slaughter house. D6 has stickers on seat indicating it spent at least some of its life in Ventura or Oxnard CA. Area. The draw bar shows a fair amount of wear, but the blade and undercarriage look good. All the tin is there, pony runs.

I saw the Wallace Machinery decals so yes, it started life down there by the coast. You mention it needs some work other than the pony so I assume it runs. How does the undercarriage look? Will it be coming over to Santa Margarita? We will have lots of tractors but more is better! Oilslick knows how to get over there and I think some steak and lobster can be had to keep him happy.

Thanks TOGNOT. I spent a lot of time in Parkfield in my youth and was curious.

Just an FYI, Wallace had a Cat/John Deere store in Paso Robles from about 1955 or '56 until they sold out to Quinn. Quinn kept it open for a few more years and then consolidated in Santa Maria. If I remember correctly, Wallace had the Oxnard store (headquarters) Santa Maria and Paso. Later they added Bakersfield I think. Then Quinn scooped them up.

Mike is well seasoned at cross country travel. He would be well suited for it.

Well, we thought the under carriage looked good, which is what kind of swayed my decision. It has a vibration which the owner thought was thermoid ( sp?) links. It definitely shakes when its revved up. Looking into the trans\ clutch through the inspection cover some things look amiss, one coupler is not close to the bell housing while others are almost rubbing.

I got it unloaded today and oil slick noticed one roller on the bottem is ( almost literally) gone. I later notice top rollers looked like the had seized at some point ? With flat spots on them.

Oh, the brakes and steering clutches barely work... Hope just need adjusting.

Hey , it's a hobby! But no, it probably won't be at Santa Maria this year. I'll keep lots of questions and pictures on ACMOC though !

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
