Hi all, I want to remove the yellow paint from the oval Delco plate on the generator without damaging the numbers on it. What's the best technique (I'm thinking some kind of liquid paint remover?)

there's stuff in a can called "chisel", i think it is made by permatex, it is a spray on gasket remover. it works good for removing paint. sprayed it on my car once wheni was prepping for paint and it it took the paint and primer off, right down to the base metal. do not get it in your eyes or on your skin.

I have used oven cleaner to clean off letters and name plates. It is not too aggressive. It may take a couple of coatings to do it. It is made with lye. That is the main component in most all paint strippers.
