I am looking for non-detergent oil for my gas Cats and thought I had found a source at Tractor Supply who show Travelers Non-Detergent 30Wt. Oil on their website. I called my local store and they did not have it. They told me to order it on-line but that did not work. I called them back and tried to get it by Rain Check shipped to the store. After the guy checked, he told me he could not get it for me. We both agreed that probably California has put this off limits and it can't be sold here. I have found this very oil is being stocked in Texas TSC outlets where I am working but getting it home is another story.

Who in California has a source for this type of oil? I would appreciate knowing where it can be bought. I have searched the archives but most are not pertinent to this issue. I have tried the local Chevron dealer and they don't have it either.

PS - "Walt D7 3T"- I may contact you to see if you can get this over in AZ.

I can't help on the oil but, I smell a Smokey and the Bandit remake. Instead on Coors beer in Texarkana it would be non detergent 30wt in Phoenix lol.

Hey Jan,

I just checked the web site of one of our local Auto Parts Stores - O'Reilly Auto - and the web site lists 6 different 30w Non-Detergent oils and they ALL SAY - "Non-California - Motor Oil". SHEESH! You guys there in California NEED to get your state government back on the intellegent path. No more of the what I call, STUPIDITY thinking. SHEESH!

Walt

PS. If I can help I'd buy some for you and you could stop by here on the way home and take it with you.

Problem seems to be about labeling and people to dumb to know what they are using or buying.

I don't want to start a "What oil to use" discussion here.. but have you tried 40 weight non-detergent? I gave up trying to get 50 weight ND for my old Rumely and went to 40 w ND which is readily available here in Minnesota. Maybe 40 w ND is banned too??

I have run my 22 for 20 years with 30 weight detergent oil. I put 20 to 30 hours a year on the 22 and change the oil once a year. I have never had any problems.

You could try Caterpillar transmission oils, the TO oils I use I believe to be non detergent, you can get 30 and 50 in them and seem to work fine in the old tractors.
