Not sure how much computer stuff on that model. Electrical shorting out in water can cause big trouble. As far as the mechanical goes if the engine didn't hydraulic and it is running normal it is a matter of getting that last moisture boiled out. Put it to work pushing and get everything running good and hot. You will boil any moisture out that didn't drain when all the fluids were changed. Many cats have went for a swim and carried on no problem. B
My son works for Const. Co that at the time of a HUGE rain in Great Bend, KS., they ending up with a Cat rubber tired loader being under water. It was not running, just sitting there in a sand pit when the rain hit. Filled the pit up to overflowing. Pumped the water down to where they could hook onto it and pulled it out. Cleaned out all filters and oil compartments and replaced with new oil and fired it up. I couldn't believe it when my son told me that story. That was many years ago. I never did hear of having a problem with it from being under water. catskinner
You state there was no water in the engine, so I see no reason why mechanically the engine would be damaged. More likely it shut down due to electronic function failure due to water, possibly the only area that may give trouble will be in the electrical/computer areas.
Agree with Wombat, he's lucky it quit. I assume he checked the other compartments too, there must be a trans breather under the tank somewhere. The guy needs to take up golf or equivalent.
They drained and changed the fluids in all the compartments.
This guy don't golf. However about 3 to 4 ywars ago he bought a ultralight airplane without his wifes knowledge and proceeded to try to teach himself to fly. After a month of flying he was landing in his field and hit a big round hay bale ended up hanging upside down in the airplane for about three hours with gas dripping on him and the ignition still on. A neighbor finally seen what they thought was a weather balloon or something and went to see and found him mostly unconscious. He spent 3 weeks in the hospital with as he explains it, "an armed guard at the door to keep his wife from killing him".
Some of the things he does since retiring makes you wonder, but he was a smart, very successful businessman. When someone in the area get hurt or otherwise is in a bad way he is among the first to help out with whatever it takes.
Keep a real close eye on all the fluids to see if there is any evidence of water (emulsion) showing up. I would even recommend changing all the fluids again after a few hours to make sure there is no problems. Oil is a helluvalot cheaper than repairs!
You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.
Hi, O-I-H.
This guy may have been a 'smart businessman' but. like you said, some of the things he does.................................................................... Wunn wundaz.
'Owinell do yer 'slide' a D6N off a FLAT road into a 7-foot deep drain?
I can't help thinking this guy needs a minder or his retirement could be cut short - - - dramatically.
Just my 0.02.
Here is my thinking,
I am fully aware that there are some people that MAY be good and somethng, like this guy MAY have been a good businessman, but have absolutely NO common sense OR mechanical aptitude what-so-ever. Now he might have it all but was simply not thinking that day OR just getting too OLD!
Anyway, that is my thinking.
Now, were was that sandwich I just made for the wife, oh, wait, she wanted fried eggs and bacon... HA HA. (just remember that I am 74 now...) 😖mile: 😖mile: 😖mile: 😖mile: 🤘
I saw more power to the man ! My guess he would be good one to enjoy an adult beverage with !
