Hi, it's been awhile since I posted anything to you guys. Awhile back I mentioned a parts dozer I was looking at and by the engine serial number, it was figured it was a D6B. It has a D6C winch mounted on it and I was wondering if that would fit my 9U? It also has hydraulic track adjusters and segmented sprockets. Has the undercarriage been upgraded? Thanks for all of your time. Robyn

All that D6B stuff will interchange on the 9U.

Thanks for the reply, Old Magnet. It's missing it's electric starter. Do you have a part number for it?

Original inertia drive starter is a 5H0455 replaced by a 9H3580. These are the old style Delco 40MT motors.
I'd recommend replacing with the later conversion 40MT or 42MT with the direct mounted engagement solenoid.
edit:
I'm assuming the 9U is missing the starter?

I've looked around a bit online and I'm having trouble finding that new part number. If I go to delcoremy, there are a lot of options for 42mt. How do I know which configuration it is?

That's why it is called a conversion. The only part of a standard 42MT starter used is the clockwise rotation motor. The lever housing (on some/not all) needs changing along with a special drive end housing and a new helical gear drive. You won't find this conversion as a standard commercial option.

It's the D6B that's missing the starter. I figured the easiest way onto a trailer was under power. My 9U is pony start, which I much prefer. I don't think I'm willing to go through all the effort of a conversion just for that. Is the conversion my only option?

Not the same for the D6B. If it had the original starter and straight tooth flywheel ring gear you need an original 8H1913 40MT clockwise starter plus the 1M0023 adapter or a later 42MT starter with the same adapter and straight 11 tooth drive.

Current number appears to be a 4N8118 (40MT) or find a 42MT equivalent.

There are a few machines there but I'm afraid they're all in similar condition. They have a D8 they are trying to sell as well, and a tracked gradeall. It's also in a very unaccessable spot, backed against some trees and facing more trees.

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
