I have been reading and learning for some time on the forum but have now signed up to ask a few questions and show my newest "buy".
Ended up getting this dozer from a local rancher's estate for free. Cost me $400 to have it recovered and moved 30 miles to my ranch. So don't have much in it at all. It had been sitting since 1995. Serial 3T9887
Clutch supposedly bad, according to ranchers son who was not well informed on anything mechanical. After digging in I have found it has new clutches in both main and steering, simply WAY out of adjustment on main lever. It was backed all the way in would only travel about 1/4". Was obvious someone was in the clutch housing as it was partially disassembled. Think some one blew pony motor (which was removed). Found three ponys, transmissions and pinions and starters for all three with housings in mesquites around dozer while loading up. One had thrown rod and other two are in pieces. None have their magnetos. Long story short, got it to house and went through it for 4 hrs and she started after pulling it only 8ft or so. Has great compression. Alot of old timers say i got really lucky on the buy. Also came with 10ft euclid blade thats hobbled together to fit and 10ft root plow.

My question is what winch is this. Serial 1E4011D6. Have supplied a pic of winch tag

Also does anyone have a template for the starter adapter plate dimensions. Plan on using a 42mt Delco.

I think you're tractor has a lot of possibilities. Actually looks pretty good minus some rust. Old timers are correct- the price was right! Keep us informed of the progress putting it back to work.

Looks to be a good find and the price is right!!!
Make sure to Pick up all the starting engine parts . Even if they are damaged and dismantled get everything you can and put it away for future use .
You wont be able to go back later and get stuff.

There aren't any commercially available parts to adapt the late Delco starter to the 3T that I am aware of although there are suppliers of complete starters ready to mount (for a price). Trick is to adapt the Delco nose to the three hole pattern available on the 3T. Here is an example of a hacked up version to get it done. You could try www.tractorparts.com for a source.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
