Last Saturday several members of Chapter 3 got together at Old Iron Habits home for our monthly meeting/ pizza lunch and playtime. The weather was bright and sunny and just a little cool. The D6 had a little trouble starting, but several members worked together to get the pony to start and soon the fun began. We see our host and chef Roger preparing to start his cooking duties, Gary Strom starting the first cut in the field, several members watching the goings on's, Gary giving Dan Wilhelm some instruction on operating the D6, and Cheri Haberle running a loader for the first time. Thanks for the good time Roger and Debby

The pony on the D6 has never failed to start every since I bought it a number of years ago. It started right up the day before after settting for 4 months. All worked fine when I walked it out of the shed, and brought it up to the yard. I started it twice more while adjusting the #24 front CCU. We pulled the hood, pulled the top of the carb and blew out the carb bowl, which looked clean, and it fired right up. Wonder why these machines like to do that when there is a audience. Must be a humiliation thing. Now I am going to service everything while the hood is off. Its a good chance to look everything over.

Hey OldIronHabit,

The first picture above is Halloween Scary!!! Who's the guy with the scary mask??? I know what you mean about how cats perform with an audience. I took a D35 to a show once and was starting to unload. Of coarse it was being difficult. Many people jumped in to give me advice on what I was doing wrong. I asked One person, who's advise was from another planet, how many tractors he had. "None" was his response... I walked away and unloaded another truck. I then took a 5 minute break to let the crowd disappear, then went back to start the D35 and it started right up. Your right, these old Cats like a crowd and will test you!!!
Hahaha... looks like you had fun. Did you save me a Pizza?

Roger and Andy,

Glad to see it quit raining up there so you could have a nice get together. Wish I could have been there. I was wondering what happened to the hood. It gives the impression you had to take it out of the shop before you could finish whatever you were working on. Oh well! I agree these Cats like attention and one of the main attractions is to play with you when you try to start a recalcitrant pony or turn the crank on a gascat. But I can't wait to have that issue on my 14A when I can get a working pony installed!

I did save you a pizza. Just give me a hours notice when you are stopping by so I can get the wood fired oven warmed up properly. We had pot luck deserts also. Makes mighty good eating when you got 10 or more deserts to pick thru. I'm looking for a Cat white servicemans coat and hat to use for a chef apron and top cover while cooking when I'm wearing Garlic Pete patented line of Cat clothes.

I would not go as far to say it quit raining. It only rained twice the week previous to the get togather. We could not push into the low area to be filled so we stripped topsoil. I'm going to take the grader out and clean up the woop-de-do's as I probably will not get back at the project until spring. Or I need a better cat skinner than us mortals to stop by and make it pretty.

Took the 212 out today for some exercise and now it looks like the Chapter 3 dozer operators were all pro's. The albino deer can move freely again without worrying about breaking a leg.

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
