Hi Glen,
Say, looks like Cat is involved with Google. LOL. I sure as S... do not want to see a driverless car anywhere near me on the road let alone a driverless Cat on a construction site . Yikes!!!!!! Computers are taking over every aspect of our lives. Not good IMHO.

WELL,

As a computer programmer you would think I would be all for "everything" being computer controlled. IF, and I mean a BIG IF, the programmers were any good then MAYBE and I do mean MAYBE that idea could be worthwhile BUT I have known of far too many programmers that should not even be in the same room with a computer let alone programming one.

So, if it were left to me I'd say, NO computer controlled cars or Cats!😞

One MUST remember that a car or Cat MUST be under human control!

Hey Team,

As I understand it, it's like a RC Car or Toy. An operator controls it remotely so the Cat can go into an environment that might not be safe for an operator. I heard something about a Blasting area.

Hi, Folks.
I think it was Alcoa Aluminum in Western Australia where they were using a fleet of radio-controlled 'Kummagutsa' D575s for reclamation and clean-up work. That same mine also purchased the last D575 ever made, which I understand was also radio-controlled.

Just my 0.02.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

I stand to Corrected here, But the Japanese I think had remote controlled Dozers levelling out Australian Coal in the sea in Ports in Japan . They bought Millions of Tons from Here and Stored it that way , I did hear it was basically a failure as the Coal became Oxidized , Deas, you Would have info on that operation I am sure. That was happening in the 70,s when I was working in the Mines Japan has little Coal of its Own and needed to build supplies in the day's of the Cold War .LJ

I ran a chipper and a grinder/mulcher for a guy I used to work for and they were both radio controlled. It was really fun and a little scary seeing a 90,000lb machine driving around with nobody on it. It was so handy though because 1 guy in a 320 excavator could grind stumps all day by him self. Here it is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MusqZ8sdmPM
