Anyone?

I am curious if anybody here knows where D6 8U-3188 ever got to? I just found out today from my former boss, Bill Eisert, that it was a stable mate to the D8 14A-7437 that came my way from Chum Duffy at the Santa Margarita Best of the West Show. Also D9G 66A-2747 was in the fleet of Eisert Contracting when I worked there in 1970. All of these machines were home based in Olean, NY. Mr. Eisert is now 88 years young. He told me the D8 14A that I have was purchased on July 11, 1957. Talk about knowing the history of a machine - that's pretty good!

They also had at one time D7F 59P-1219 and D8H 46A-1379 but they were not there when I worked there.

Who knows, someone here might know about these machines. After all, by way of this BB I found out about the D8 that Chum had was one I used to operate.

Hi. I’m Dick Eisert’s daughter. I saw where you located it in Smethport and I saw the guy posted his phone number I’m sure my brother Jim would be interested in seeing it when he comes to town but I can’t get back to the post. Can you send me the number and the guys name. I thought I posted to it but I can’t find that either

Jerry Brenan from Eldred bought a D6 from across from Roundsy's Garage back in the late 80's. I know he was moving his Drill Rig with it and other Oilfield related work (I use to operate his old D6-5R). Jerry passed away about 10 years ago(?) Been so long now its hard to remember if it was an 8U or a 9U? Anyways after he died his daughter sold pretty much everything due to PA DNR harassment. Last I saw it was parked up Tram Hollow with a leaking head gasket. It was worn out in the undercarriage that much I do remember.

Terry, Hi! Welcome to an Olean person! Jan as you probably know is from Portville, while I am from Allegany. If I remember correctly John Williams from Allegany worked for your Dad for a while? If your Dad was the one that built Case Lake up in Franklinville back in the 1960's?

Hello Terri,

What a nice surprise. Are you the Soap Box Derby Champion that I went to see in Akron in 1971? That was a fun day. I was just in Olean over the June 9-10 weekend. I would have loved to look you up. We did drive past Bill's former home in Hinsdale and I almost stopped to see if any of the family was still living there.

I am not sure you have the whole story of what this is about. Your dad sold the D8 to Duffy Corp. in Smethport PA in 1985. Chum Duffy was posting on this BB one day and I happened to ask him where he got his D8. He told me from your dad. I met Chum a few years later. He decided I should own that tractor so he sent it out here to CA on his truck and gave it to me as a big surprise! I then found your dad's obit in the Times Herald and through the internet contacted your Uncle Bill. Bill told me about the other tractors causing me to post the note you answered. So the D8 is no longer in Smethport but in Vista CA. Your brother Jim has contacted me by email a few times. I believe he told me he has been using Facebook to "talk" to both Chum Duffy and Jeff Bell from Eldred PA who also has a D8 like your dad's (now the one I have.)

I have found that your cousin Greg is living in AZ. I had intended to contact him but have not done so as yet. He could certainly come over to see the D8 if he would want to.

Here is a recent picture of it when I took my grandkids for a ride on July 4.

Jeff,

Both Eisert D6s where 8Us with narrow track pads. Sounds like you knew where one went. I don't remember where Tram Hollow is but Eisert's garage/yard was on Grossman Ave across from Round's Garage as you said. The cutlery outfit has built a building on the old lot which I saw when I drove back there.

I am excited to hear from Terri. I copied you on the PM I sent her. I would have looked her up when I was there had I knew she was around. Maybe she has some more "story" for us!

Joel59,

I was hauling rip rap rock out of the woods west of Frewsburg along hwy. 60 and up to Lakewood for a creek lining job when I quit to go to work for Eisert Contracting in Olean. Before that in 1968, I helped stock a construction company's batchplant a little east of Frewsburg when they were paving a new road but not sure which one. We were hauling down Hwy. 62 from a pit near Leon. I remember having to dodge the Amish buggy's and skidding through wet horse manure with an empty dump trailer. Loads of fun! The buggies at the most were making 5 miles an hour and my Brockway was doing 50 or 55! Everyone one lived through it except for one rainy day when I hit a snake, a rabbit and a ground hog, all on the same trip down. As I watched in the mirror, the ground hog hesitated as the tractor passed but he never saw the rear trailer tandems! It was bad!

Thanks for saying hello.

Yes, I had met "Cletrac" Bob at our National Show at Brownsville in 2016 and he told me about his trip west. All the more reason I was embarrassed to not remember Bob's last name which you supplied.

Hi Jeff
Yes he was. And thanks for the welcome. It’s quite interesting seeing where dad and Uncle Bill’s equipment have traveled. I actually was just messing around googling Eisert Contracting seeing what would pop up on the internet. I was surprised to find anything. But glad I did

If I have it right, its technically "Main Street" in Duke Center that takes you up to Red Rock, then down over the other side to (?) which I think becomes Derrick Road down into Bradford by the Gas Station, Lighthouse Restaurant, Worth Smith's. Anyways Tram Hollow was up "Main Street" 2 or 3 miles. Truthfully I would have guessed the road sign said 346 or 546 on it as I never learned to read the signs, always just drove and turned at such and such.
Its even funnier now as time passes and not living there any more it gets harder and harder to drive by the seat of your pants!

Last time I was home the wife and I went up the Windfall road thinking it went over the hill to Duke Center. After I locked the hubs in, we got to the top, the GPS went blank, the "road" turned into a 4 wheeler trail, she panicked! I told her, Don't Worry the worst will be we will come down in someone's yard and the Gate will be closed!
Well the Gate was open Thankfully!
Turns out we ended up on Kansas Branch!
Disclaimer: Not all Bing or Google maps are accurate as the road names seem to change on the Maps to suit the map maker.
LOL!
