well with the help for you guys a few weeks ago Clyde was able to get my belt pull in to operation and he made a coupler up for it to do a little testing on his old sixty. this was just a first run we think we can get a little more out of her but she did way better than i thought. she was work for 6 year after the motor rebuild / hod roding pulling a scraper with a cc unit on the back before retirement in the 60's. we where just on pump gas with ethanol in it plus a few other small things need look at like the blow by we where getting. place your guess then go watch the video and see how close you where? the video was edit for time and viewing pleasure.

That 60 is smoking hot, in a literal sense of the word. I never would guess that much HP out of it.

Hi, Mog5858.
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. THAT is INCREDIBLE. Just a great OLD engine. Reminds me of the story from a few years back when some people tuned a Cat Sixty to factory specs and had it emissions tested - - - - - - - - and it passed.

Just my 0.02.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

thanks boys it was a pretty fun time that was for sure. i was figuring 72 HP would be good. one think is running the higher compression is that the exhaust run way cooler where it collects and it not as thirsty as one might think.

that is one nice 60 i noticed the mechanical fuel pumps instead of the vacuum tank what about the carburetor and air cleaner? that big engine has a lot of potential is there something about stationary use that says to put trans in gear and lockout steering clutches so the top shaft gets lubed? thanks for the test

What a great video. Thanks for sharing.

You mention higher compression. Is it the high altitude pistons or are the heads cut or both or???

Chad, if I remember correctly Mog told me it had John Deere D pistons in it, perhaps some other tricks were done inside that engine as well. In any case though, that's one cool Sixty.

well Chad Toby got the most on the info right. Clyde is one of them guys that will away just get a little more out. the more i look at the old sixty i think i going to try and right a story for the magazine about it and how much of a hot rod it is. he dose lost of work on the big gas tractor. the maniacal fuel pumps help out a lot and he built a heater so as to not have the carb freezes up. I see. I look forward to the article. That big ole zenith carb probably helps too. That carb would atomize way better than the original ensign. Thanks again for sharing!!
