Hey Gang,
If I was in the local area I would be there... I'm always game for an Open Cat House... I mean open house at a cat house... Oops... I meant to say open house at a Cat dealer... :tape2:
This is the 1971 D6C from the Decatur Caterpillar Factory at the Altofer open house. Billy Irvin brought it over and stated that this is probly the first time it has left the factory since being put into use.![]()

This is the D2 that is stationed at Altofer in Springfield. It has non Matching Serial numbers on the motor and rear but both of them where early. Talking with the store manager Joe Keen, before we left, he stated that it came from a widow in Missori who had it in her garage and had just lost her husband. SHe wanted to sell it and have her garage back, so he bought it for the stoe in 2003ish. When he got it all the bolts had been painted grey, and he stated that it didn't take them long to repaint it all yellow. He stated that it runs great but he doesn't have staff that know how to run a pony motor and start the diesel. So it was tellihandled into place. He tried to get them to start it, and drive it in with no advail. ![]()

7Upuller,
I know you would of made it if you could, it is members like ou that keep me inspired to keep on the restoration of my machines. Though I am still slow at them. But the song is "Don't let the dogs out", not "Don't let the Cats out"
