I was wondering if I dare us the PTO abbreviation when I did it. But even if some questioned it everyone figured out what information I was looking for. Sorry if I offended anyone by not being technically correct.
I was thinking of making something similar to what 657Cat built. Then I came across a new in box pump made to slide on the PTO for less than $100 on Craigslist logically. I also have miscellaneous mounting plates for the back of medium size Cats,a least one with a bearing in plate.
Was thinking shaft would be near engine speed but have been wrong many times,so with the brain trust here ask and make sure.

Not offended, it's just that the last time I bought a tumbling shaft for a PTO they did not ask me if it was for an ASAE standard. They just knew by name what I needed.
Also thanks Paul and 657 for the further explanation. Now I gotta get back and see if mine work the same way. I did not realize the knurled collar slide both directions.
