Hi Guys. A mate of mine has a D4C that he has retrieved from the scrappers and got it all together and going but wants the starter (buzz bomb ) recoil spring for the wire rope .
If someone has a parts book to get number for the spring would be appreciated . Not sure that he'll get one though.
He is 4 hrs away from me , says he can't find serial no, the service manual is for a 39A 1 up.

39A, 24A D4C, 60A and 72A 955H used the same starter motor, I reckon the D6B and 977H also used the same base unit, I believe the recoil start cables will be all the same.

The parts book for the early D6B 44A shows the spring assembly to be 2M7846.

Unless he wants it for a collector take that buzzbomb off and throw it in the scrap pile.I changed mine over to a 12 volt starter and works great.Cost me $140 for a rebuilt starter and it bolted right up,and put a 4D battery in it.

He will also need new pre-chambers and glow plugs if he wants it to start reliably without ether.

Been 15 years now and used ether on it all that time. Not a fan of ether but go light with it and won't be a problem.Worked for a cat dealer and changed over a few pre-chambers to glow plugs and thought it was a waste of money.Pre-chamber engines seem to tolerate ether better than direct injection engines.

There you go again EL300B, booting the "Buzz Bomb" to the curb. Not nice, not nice.:whoo:

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
